Road trips are fun, but they require a lot of planning! You’ll want to have everything ready for an easy and fun road trip. So we’ve got a road trip maintenance checklist for you.
- Change Your Oil
- Unless you’ve just recently gotten it changed, get an oil change right before your trip to start off fresh. Topping it off if it is low is fine, but not when you’re taking on a few hundred or thousand miles.
- Check Your Fluid Levels
Check all of your fluid levels under the hood and top them off if they’re low. This includes:
- Radiator Fluid
- Transmission Fluid
- Power Steering Fluid
- Brake Fluid
- Check Your Hoses
Rubber hoses can get squishy and have cracks if they get hot. Check them for any cracks before you hit the road.
- Check Your Belts
Check on your belts, which can also wear from heat and stress. If you have less than 50,000 miles on your car, you’re probably good.
- Refill Tires
Make sure your tires have proper PSI and refill them if they’re low. Also check the treadwear to make sure they’re evenly-worn and ready to tackle the open road.
